Podcast

Tuesday night my partner and I worked on our Podcast for our Technology for PETE class. The Audacity program we used was pretty cool. I have never used a program like this. It was weird hearing everything we said come back to us when we hit the play button. I never really took notice to how my voice sounded until then. It was a nice, new experience recording this Podcast.

MLB TV

Today in class our teacher loaded up her MLB TV. This is amazing. You can watch a number of different games from around the country at the same time that you normally would not be able to watch in your area. This is a great thing for the true MLB fans around the world. If you a Pittsburgh fan living in Texas or a Boston Fan living in California youll be able to watch all of their games at any time with this amazing peice of technology.

Cell Service

The other night here on campus my cell phone would not pick up service for about two hours. I talked to some of my friends with the same company and they said they had the same problem during that time frame. I feel that the cell companies should make sure this happens no matter what because we pay all that money to them and chose them over other companies and we deserve for this not to happen.

Lifting supplements

Over the years there have been numerous types of legal supplements that have come out that be bought at your local GNC or Vitamin World. One company that makes these supplements is Muscletech. Every so many months, they come out with a new product that is supposed to be better than anything they have had before. There is a ton of technology that goes into creating these supplements so that they do not hurt the consumers health but still do a great job at helping build muscle.

Under Armour

Under Armour is one of the best technological inventions for sports apparell in my opinion. They have special types that help prevent heat exhaustion and then they have types that help keep in warm in the winter elements. I have worn it to play football since it has come out. I love all the different styles they have and recomend it to anyone who plays sports.

Google

The Google search engine is an amazing piece of technology. You can type anything you want in the search engine and find either pictures or website that have to do with your topic. This is a great tool for students who are doing projects or just want to know something more about a topic. I set Google as my homepage so as soon as I log onto the internet I can search for anything I want.

SRU Snow Plows

SRU needs to find a new piece of technology to use when it comes to cleaning off the roads when it snows. The snow plows that they use are not sufficient at all to clean the roads. I am surprised that there have not been more wrecks on campus. I do not know what they can do but they need to think of someting or they need to cancel classes more often.

Auto-set clocks

For Christmas this past year I got a clock that automatically sets its self. This is a great piece of technology because if your power ever goes out due to the weather or power outage you do not have to worry about resetting you clock when the power comes back on. This can be a great thing because your alarm will still go off if the power comes back on.

Digital Cameras

Digital cameras are amazing pieces of technology. They are owned by most college students today. They are used by the students to take pictures of sports, parties, or any other activity that they may be a part of. They have advanced tremendously over the years and will continue to advance. I, myself, own a digital camera and love having it to collect memories from my college years.

Football Helmets

Over the years, football helmets have changed in many ways. Now, their are a lot more concerns of concussions and the lasting effects of head injuries. In the "old days" athletes wore leather helmets when they played football. These were not safe at all compared to the hard plastic helmets that were used later on. The hard plastic helmets have facemasks that also protect your head. Now helmets are specially made by different material and have specialized holes and gaps in the helmets to prevent or atleast try to prevent head injuries and concussions.

Technology in Sports

Technology has influenced sports tremendously over the years. Technology helps teams prepare for games, look at their own skills, and better themselves by seeing what they are not good at and what they do wrong. In my opinion, technology has made coaching a little easier because their athletes can watch film to learn mistakes or to learn about other teams instead of the coach needing to explain everything first hand to all his athlets on a mouth-to-mouth basis. Technology has also had a big influence on how sports are watched today. Television has upgraded dramtically over the past few years with high definition television and plasma tvs. If you watch the Super Bowl this weekend you will see all the technology that is put into the game so it is viewed at the best quality possible.
